Not sure where to put this. To me, it seems inevitable that if the plans pay physicians less that it will be more difficult for patients to get in to be seen. Doctor's will take less patients with these plans in order to diversify the income sources. I don't feel suprised by this article at all.

Hell, even if we are in network with Humana, UHC, BCBS, etc. we might not be in network with the new ACA plans. Some require additional contracts. And as a provider, we weren't told about this.

The issue is that patients don't understand in/out of network. They think, "I have insurance, I want to see a doctor". You can't blame them, that's logical. Unfortunately, the insurance plans sold these plans without being very clear that they were so narrow. So now the patients are calling around trying to find a doctor and no one takes their plan.
