Do you support the idea of a flat tax?

I thought I'd bring this in here to discuss.

I have a few thoughts about taxes (especially this time of year) but I'm mostly in support of a flat tax (not a progressive tax). I have always felt like the progressive tax system was unfair. I could also really get behind the idea of a national sales tax (instead of our progressive tax system).

I'm for a flat tax, in theory. You'd have to get rid of all the deductions, though, IMO.

So, AMT for all, but without the income threshold?

I like progressive taxation. Some years during medical school, we had zero tax liability, and thank goodness because we couldn't afford almost anything. Now, we can afford more and we pay more. I am okay with that (until the tax bill comes, ha!) The tax code could probably be simplified but I can't pretend to know how, since everything came into law for some reason, so who is to say what is unnecessary?

Well, I think a flat tax can work as long as minimum wage is increased, but I do see the benefit of no tax for those making less than like 30K.
