Some friends have been posting this story, although it's not new. Apparently I was at college at the same time as two of the guys, although I can't remember seeing them there. I did attend the church a few times my freshman year (before they were there), and it always gave me a really uneasy feeling. I even got convinced to join them on a mission trip to Juarez, Mexico during spring break, and it was such a terrible experience. I have to say I'm not really surprised that members of that church have gone off the deep end.

So sad. I bet they will self destruct eventually, but who knows how it will hurt the members in the process

Wow, that is a heartbreaking story.

A side note on the parents watching the baby die, that is unfortunately more common than most people realize and it's not strictly folks who feel like "God will save". There are many who use the, "it was meant to be by the universe" line or other such craziness. Ladies will let their babies die in childbirth and say all sorts of crazy.

Seems like when I was in high school cults were covered in the media pretty regularly as well as groups that kidnapped children away from such cults. I don't see that coverage anymore. Actually practically nothing until this article. I wonder if it's just "old news" the media isn't interested in or if the number of cults have diminished?
