I would love to see Booker as a VP for any of the candidates. I wish he'd stayed in the race.

If Bloomberg were to win the nomination I think he'd want to have a running mate from outside the ny/nj area. And maybe somebody more physically appealing
          Bloomberg/Gabbard?

I can understand not wanting to vote for him for a whole list of reasons, but not these. I know these are the two reasons I hear most often from the other candidates, but (1) who cares if he "put in the work?" We're not writing these people report cards - if somebody is the best candidate, they should get your vote, regardless of the sweat equity. and (2) just because he's a successful businessman who can afford ad time, I don't think he should be disqualified from your consideration. Yes, it's similar to Trump in that regard but so what?
Bloomberg looked at the current candidates and figured none of them could beat Trump so he jumped in. Examine the issues and then don't vote for him, but I can't see discounting somebody because you don't like his campaign strategy.

For me, it's 110% about the complications of having a personal fortune. YOU HAVE TO DIVEST. Tell me you'll walk away from your billions, and only then will we talk. There will never again be any exceptions. We made one and now where are we?!

But also, establishing cred in the party goes SO FREAKING FAR in the ability to encourage legislation from the executive...right? It's super and all to be a dark horse third-party (or tangentially-Democratic) candidate, but I don't want a President in name only. I want somebody who can get sh*t done for the people and hopefully for the progressive platform. If you know how to put a bill through the legislature -- encouraging, not micromanaging or interfering with the separate functions of branches -- we can talk. Otherwise, build your resume and come back later. I do have to respect the self-financing approach to campaigning, since I'm so super skeptical of corporate campaign investments, and I find the Democratic debate thresholds to be awkward. But the rest of it is just such a non-starter for me. Put in the time to show that you know how to progress the Democratic platform as the current Democratic constituency sees it. And be prepared to see your fortune stagnate during your tenure. Otherwise, GTFOH.

There is no way I can vote for Trump, so I guess I'm voting D this year. I took one of those "whose beliefs align closest with yours" and Mayor Pete, Bloomberg, and Klobuchar came back highest. Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders are the two I don't like the most--I feel like it would be another 4 years of nothing getting done and ridiculous fighting that might lead to another super far right swing. Plus, I honestly feeling like Sanders is just too damn old to do this job effectively.

My brother is deeply mourning Andrew Yang.

Klobuchar is getting a surge. Some of my more moderate R and D friends really like her. I also worry Sanders = more gridlock, especially if Ds don't maintain House and take Senate. I worry less about geopolitical issues, though.

I’m on the same page as you are. I’m also worried that the “Bernie or bust” people will have a tantrum and refuse to vote if he doesn’t get the nomination like they did last time. The “vote blue no matter who” contingent makes me nervous too because, we could replace one lunatic with another or something worse and it just feeds the party loyalties that have made it so difficult to get anything done.

I’m hearing rumblings that Trump may refuse to cede the office if he doesn’t win. I also saw something where he was saying he thinks his supporters would “demand” he stay in office. Scary.

Afaik, "vote blue no matter who" pretty much applies just to the presidential race, and we know the options we've got, there...do you REALLY think any of them is "another lunatic or something worse"?

Hopefully not. Some may disagree but I feel like Trump was essentially elected and has stayed in office because of the “vote red no matter who” people. Many of my republican friends voted for him because he got the nomination and they always voted republican or couldn’t stomach voting for Hillary Clinton. So they held their noses and voted for him. We see our elected officials (both democrat and republican) voting exclusively along party lines for fear of being shunned by their party. When people feel desperate, it creates an opportunity for extreme leaders.

I don't know....I'm kind of fed up with both parties, and feeling like they are both hopelessly corrupt, and wishing for somebody who will not toe the line. I'm hoping against hope that Bloomberg is that person, but as I hear more, I fear he's going to become a textbook democrat.
The Republicans disgust me as each seemingly intelligent candidate ends up falling into the whirlpool of anti-knowledge, anti-environment, anti-minority idiocy. This was the party of Teddy Roosevelt? And then each Democrat who rails against the "evil corporations" and the rich folks who sent them to their prep schools and ivy league colleges, and the really frightening left wing anti-semitic trends which are not called out by the party centrists.
So I'm kind of hoping for a brokered convention, and that the candidate who emerges will grow a pair and keep some common sense about him or her. Maybe even choose a running mate of the opposite party, or outside the party. Could you imagine?
In the last election, I voted for the libertarian candidate (who can even remember his name) as a protest vote. MA goes democrat in any case, so my vote is meaningless, but at least I can register my dissatisfaction by voting for the third party. But to be perfectly honest, if Sanders or Warren ended up as the Dem candidate, I think I would cast a vote for Trump. Four more years of the lunatic we know is preferable for me to giving AOC a direct line to the white house.
