  • Who would you nominate?

    OK..moving away from the

If you were going to be able nominate somone (s) for president, who would you nominate?

I like John McCain and I even like AHHHHHnold (maybe it's because I don't know all of the poop on him?) Both are moderates who stand where I do on many social issues .....

So I guess I'd end up voting republican in those instances too. :!

I'd nominate McCain in a heartbeat - maybe he'll run again in 4 years.

I would nominate AHHHNOLD, too! Gosh, I never thought I'd said that! I lived in California up until a few months ago and when the recall election was held and Arnold was elected, I had absolutely no confidence in him whatsoever; however, he has proven to be a true moderate, and his decisions have made people on both ends of the spectrum happy. I think it has definitely helped him that he is married to a Democrat. Maria plays a huge role in much of his decision making. She helps him to see the "other side of the story". If Arnold was elected president, I think he would make great strides in reuniting this nation.

I rolled my eyes when I heard he would run for the presidency if he could....but now I'm wishing he was able to!

How about Oprah!! Just kidding, but I do like her a lot.
For political figures, I really like John McCain as well. I would have crossed party lines to vote for him. Seems like with the country being so partisan, it would be nice to see somebody in office that would be more unifying. Obviously that won't happen this time around since no matter who wins, about half of the country is going to be pissed off!

I supported McCain, even sent the campaign $, event though he has differing views on many topics that I have.

That said, he got totally screwed in 2000 and if he ran again, I would support him again. He seems to really understand our place in the world and the impact we (America) can have. His wife is cool- even admitted her addiction publically! I would cross party lines to vote for him as well.

Well, HALLELUJAH, someone it seems most of us can acutally agree on.....I didn't think it was possible! I hope McCain IS the candidate next time.....what a warm and fuzzy place the Debate Room will be in four years!

(I am sure we will come up with something to "argue" about, though! )

I don't think McCain would be fun enough for the cartoonists. I'm hoping Kerry wins just so I can look forward to political cartoons for the next 4-8 years. He's got a great face for silly-putty games.

Definitely Mitt Romney (governor of Massachusetts).

Just watch - that man is running for the presidency in the next decade.

                          Jennifer

(I don't know enough about McCain to agree or disagree with the man being president - so there might be a debate in the debate lounge yet should he run! )

Oh, Jennifer, I'm too tired to come up with someone else. Blame the hormones....

But, I really do think Romney will run for president in the near future. I don't know if he'll get the nomination but if he does I think it will be a very interesting situation considering his background. Romney vs. Hillary in the future? I could totally see it.

My issue with Ahnold running is that I don't believe we need to change the Constitution. I think the reasoning behind requiring one be a natural born citizen is still sound. There are fabulous immigrants with wonderful leadership skills and such but the logic behind this important presidential requirement shouldn't be cast aside so quickly in exuberance for a potential candidate.

There, I was contrary! I'm not as tired as I thought I was.
