I posted this here as not to step on toes as this could spark a debate.
It is pretty interesting, as this is where I am from, had many friends at this game, and also family. Nearly all that I talked to mentioned hearing this explosion, and then the following announcement following the game to keep the fans in the stadium for a little bit.
Is it is strange that this is also about the time that the government started letting it be known that they had foiled some attempts at other "terrorist acts" in the country. I am not sure that I like living "in the dark" or if I would rather know about all the situations that 'might have been...'

Shocking that we never heard about this in the main-streem media. Why is it that we can hear about the missing girl from aruba for months on end, but that something like this is essentially buried.

terribly alarming. I'd not heard about this (not that I'm the most plugged in). I, too, would prefer to know. It probably wasn't shared because W isn't up for re-election or anything, so scaring a bunch of people will only result in a bunch of scared people.

I read this at another messageboard when it happened. The blogs went crazy for a couple of days after this.

There's still hefty debate over what happened. Witnesses claim a couple of men were fleeing the scene of the explosion and ran straight into the stadium. Others say that the local news showed a bomb squad detonating a second device (aerial view) only to turn around within a short period of time and say the local authorities denied there was a second device. There's confusion over whether the FBI or the local authorities were in charge of various decisions and who did what when. Apparently the satellite feed from the game was cut as soon as the explosion ocurred. The list of the weird and suspicious just goes on and on....

        Weird. And scary.

The fact is that we can have terrorists here - American-born terrorists. I know that Britain seems to be having a hard time coming to grips with the fact that "their own" could have blown up subways/buses. I watched a video clip of one of the men who did this the other day (on the net). It was bizarre to hear this handsome man with a British accent spout things you'd normally hear from people we refer to as "Islamic extremists". That area of Oklahoma had some serious ties to a couple of seriously motivated "Islamic extremists" not terribly long ago and I don't think the time is far off when we're going to see people with American accents, born in the U.S., spouting things we normally associate with crazies in turbans hiding in caves.

I actually did hear about this when it happened but I just chalked it up to some disturbed young adult going to very extreme measures to show the world how pissed off he was. I wasn't thinking "big picture terrorism"...

Well, it would appear there was more here than simply a troubled youth.

I found the following site today that has a great deal of research on this explosion outside of a packed footballs stadium in Oklahoma. It is full of links to the various information and news coverage regarding the event (including a link to a site that documents the virtual media black-out on the entire thing):

            http://www.zombietime.com/oklahoma_suicide_bombing/

Here is the link for the essay on the media blackout of the coverage:

Wow, I guess I like to live with my head in the sand, I just don't look at things that way. I just "assumed" it was a suicide like they said. I read stuff like this and wonder if I really want to bring a child into this world?
