  • Colbert's roast

I am puttting this here not to start a debate but was worried about putting it elsewhere. Did anyone see his roast of Bush at the White House Correspondent's dinner? Wow. It is definitely worth watching.

Thanks for posting it Sue Ann. It didn't occur to me that I could find it online (not sure which decade I thought I was living in).

As Jon Stewart said "Ballsilicious". Not sure what it means - but that took some serious nerve to do -- and I thought it was absolutely hillarious.

Oh my goodness! I, of course, thoroughly enjoyed that but what the f*** were they thinking by putting him up there???

I missed it! They took the video off due to copyright infringement.

I really wanted to see it, too.

I caught it......apparently just in time!

I honestly didn't think it was that bad. I mean....it was totally in character for him. If they wanted something different, then they should have picked someone else. That's his schtick. He's awesome. And the glass IS 32% full.

And "I like you Mr. President. I like you because you stand FOR things. And I like you because you stand ON things. Like aircraft carriers, rubble and town squares that were recently under water."

It was totally his schtick .. but probably a lot less "truthiness" than GWB is used to hearing from someone 2 people away. I'm floored that they booked him -- and wonder if the person who did still has a job.

              from the NYT:

Mark Smith, a reporter for The Associated Press who is president of the White House Correspondents' Association, acknowledges that he had not seen much of Stephen Colbert on Comedy Central before he booked him as the main entertainment for the association's annual black-tie dinner on Saturday night.

Hello? Try doing your homework dude! I bet he is in the hot seat right now.

I started to wonder when he introduced the guy from the "Colberrrr Reporrrr" (no "t" on the report). Perhaps he just didn't say it right but I wondered how much he had watched it and what he was expecting.

No - that's what they call it, as a play on Colberrrrr. It's referred to as the "Reporrr"

I simply can't believe they booked anyone from Comedy Central ... especially a "Daily Show" alum w/o checking it out. Seriously - that guy is a reporter???

Tara - I love that you love the "Repor" ... I kind of assumed w/your more right-leaning stance that you wouldn't be a fan. I guess watching politicians get made fun of is fun no matter which side you play for.

Dang it! That makes me wish I had cable -- I've watched clips but haven't heard it introduced that way.

how pathetic -- I never thought I'd be trying to DVR something on CSPAN. I haven't been able to find it yet.

We were talking about this over dinner last night and our dinner companion suggested boingboing.
