  • Bible Code

dh & I watched a History Channel thing tonight on the "bible code". what do you all think? the way the special is put together it seems pretty convincing ... plus, I really enjoy the Rabbi who "found" the modern code (he's got a great accent).

So, now that you know the code, what does it *really* say?

(I haven't seen anything on this, so I can't add anything useful! )

Tracy - you're mixing up the Bible and the "Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy" again!!!!! :!

It basically says that major events in the past (and future) are predicted in the bible via varying sizes of "ELS" (skipping a particular number of characters consistently).

I'm not going to be able to explain this correctl.

I have seen a show like this before...maybe even this same one, on National Geo. Anyhow, dont they have people on debunking this by saying, if you do this with any document/literature/text/etc. you will come up with the same thing? Okay, I'll stop now....I suck at this...going back to Tom and Katie.

There was quite a debate about it, world class statisticians on both sides saying it was valid, it was bunk, etc etc.
I think it's kind of cute the things they come up with, but if you're gonna base you faith on this stuff, you're gonna get burned at some point.
