  • International Debate?

So, the President of Iran has challenged the President of the US to a debate.

I so hope Bush declines because I'm VERY sure that his grasp of international politics would embarrass us all. I think nearly ANY leader of any country would do better in a debate than most Americans sue to our pathetic education in international relations and history...

    What do you all think?

Why in heavens name would you debate a foreign leader - what are they going to debate?

Bad idea. Never going to happen. Still, I'd LOVE to see it for the entertainment value. :> It's my understanding that the Bush administration has yet to talk to Iran even in private. Hasn't the bulk of the diplomacy fallen to European nations?

I've yet to read the article. Are they to debate the nuclear power/weapons issue?

I agree, bad idea but would love it for the entertainment. He is such an idiot.

Seeing as how Bush backs away from even REAL commitments / conversations / discussions that he SHOULD have ... the likelihood of such a debate is nil.

That said ... how do we know the head of Iran actually challenged Bush to a debate? He may have challenged him to a pissing contest, or a duel, or 'my penis is bigger than yours' kind of thing. Lots can be lost in translation.

Off topic, but related to the whole lost in translation thing.

Ok, but since I posted here. I think a debate between the two is a baaad idea. It isn't like this is a real 'debate' that the guy is looking for, so even if we were talking about someone other than Bush going into this debate it would be a bad idea. I hope he (Iranian pres whose name I am not going to look up at the moment and certainly won't get right) is denied a forum and the free media coverage.

Yeah, it's a bad idea. I love to hear George Bush speak though, it's hilarious. Check out this website.

I was watching the news this morning (what??!! not Wonder Pets??? ) and I just wanted to scream at the TV. I just cannot stand to hear the man talk. He just sounds SO FRIGGEN STUPID! Oh, did anyone see (cant remember the name of the guy) from 60 minutes (?) that interviewed the Iranian president. It aired on C-span for a day or two.

Back on topic: I cannot stand to listen to that man talk. He's either trying to sound like John Wayne, trying to remember what his cronies told him to say, or making up words. None of it - none of it is tolerable.

Say what you will about Clinton and his roaming penis, but that man could throw together a sentence.

I can't believe you actually think the leader of Iran is worth debating. That guy is a nut.

I think he's more 'crazy like a fox'.

and he's managed to convince a frightening majority of his people that in addition to the economic reforms he'll provide (which as yet, he has not done), he's standing up to the west.
