The father gave away his son when he was only a month old if I remember correctly and he WAS in an orphanage. That's how Madonna ever saw him. He was at an open orphanage primarily for HIV kids. Madonna does a lot of charity over there and she saw him in one of the film footages from the orphanage that was focused on an 8 year old girl who happened to be holding him.

If this is the case then I couldn't agree more...

Kid was most definitely in an orphanage. Madonna first saw him on video footage that is being shot for a documentary she's producing. His dad took him to the orphanage when he was 2 weeks old, and he was NEVER visited by ANY family member. He's now 13 months old. It's not as if she went from hut to hut asking for someone to hand over their child.

As far as celebrity adoption is concerned ... I don't imagine it's getting out of hand. These are people who could afford to feed entire countries full of people, and if they're finally willing to help someone - then all the better for it. EVEN IF the kid ends up getting raised by nannies -- they will still have a better shot at life - and perhaps eventually helping those still in their native country - than they ever would have had left in an orphanage.
