This is for any teachers out there or anyone who has given talks.......
I find that I'm getting a bit lost in the minutia...wanting to be sure that I know every detail...and it's not possible...especially considering it's been years since I've covered some of the material that I'm trying to teach. I want to do a good job, but I find that because I'm busy searching for details, I'm not getting the big picture for myself anymore.
Can anyone give me some good suggestions on simplifiying things and organizing a lecture/talk?
I'm in a lab environment, so I can do some group activities. I'm planning on trying to review the previous lab in the first 20 minutes (of a 2 hour lab) by handing out questions and having each lab group work together to answer a couple of them. Then they can share their answers with the group and in a way..teach themselves? It sounds like a better idea than listening to me nervously go about it?
