  • talking to the CEO

My SO's dad knows the CEO of a company that I really want to work for, so his dad gave my resume to the CEO. CEO says he will call me and will give me an interview with VP of marketing.

So...I'm trying to prepare so that I'm not a stuttering fool if he calls.

How do I greet him? "Mr. _____, it's so nice to speak to you. I've been anticipating your call."

    Any ideas?

    Re: talking to the CEO

Skip the "I've been anticipating..." Simply, hello Mr._____, I really appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to call me.

ETA: Have a cheat sheet by the phone and with you if he has your cell. Have a sentence or two ready about what impresseses you about his company and how your skills / education / interest would fit - concise and well researched. Also, have your resume nearby too.

But pause and see where it goes, but it would be pretty expected that he would have a question about why X company and your skills and interests.

Oh, and know your schedule and have it ready too.

    Good luck.

I have found that the executive branch are kind of like supermodels-

you know how lots of supermodels say that they don't date because no one ever asks them out because they 1) figure they've got to already be dating or 2) people get intimidated.

I was just at a meeting with our CFO and he's a really nice, funny guy. Would I go drink a beer with the man? No. But I'll not restrain myself from a bit of sasrcasm every now and again.
