Here is my question to you guys....
If only 58% of the people know that the Taliban and Al Quaeda movements are based in Afghanistan, and only 17% of Americans can even identify Afghanistan on the map....AND if only 21% of Americans can even locate Israel, how on earth can we be so arrogant about the politics going on in those areas of the world. Most Americans can't even identify the regions on the map...and so they probably aren't going to be able to give an accurate historical or political perspective.
Yet here we are with more than half of Americans completely behind Bush and the 'war on terror'. Many don't understand why there are so many countries who have expressed reservasions or refused to provide support to the US...maybe it's because...we aren't educated enough about world issues to know the roots of many of the problems and our possible contributions. In order to make change in the world, we need to really work at educating our children and ourselves. Are we really more willing to believe CNN or FoxNews than to take the time to learn for ourselves?
