  • Relocation Support for Academic Spouses

I really dont know. I am in academics as well and it doesnt sound like anything I have ever heard, but it also seems like if it has happened, it probably wasnt publicly discussed. I think it depends on how badly they are looking for a hem onc. We had a friend just turn down a hem onc position where they threw out all kinds of crazy things to get him to come, including paying off his house, $700 a month for cars for him and his spouse, etc etc.

It does seem a little awkward to ask for, since essentially her employers would be paying your salary.

    Hi, and welcome!
I've never heard of a practice "funding" a position in academia. I'd think that the department and university would have to approve something like that as well, and if it's not done, I don't see how it would get past all the faculty.
Will your tenure clock get reset if you change schools? How do things work in philosophy?
I say find the position that fits her, with lots of potential opportunities for you, and then petition the local philosophy departments.
Or you can open a philosophy store.

I've heard of positions being created for a spouse when one department at a University really wants to land a particular physician, but that's within a University - not something being funded by private practice.

It's something that would have to have a lot of "friends" between both institutions ....

      Best of luck to you.
