  • New job...new life

So about a month ago, I was totally stressing about my job. I couldn't sleep, my mind was always running, and I was generally unhappy...I had to do something or I was going to end up in the mental ward...

Well, I did it. I quit. WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!

For those of you who have ever been in a bad job...the feeling of euphoria while handing in a resignation is truly amazing!! I'm psyched! So, I called my nurse manager at my second job (per diem) and she offered me a part time (20h/wk) job doing what I love (L&D, maternity, nursery).

So, I'm going from a full time stressful job (clinical research) to a part time job doing my most favorite thing in the world...am I lucky or what?

The whole reason I didn't do this sooner was because I thought we couldn't afford it and because I thought we would have babysitting issues. However, when really looking at a detailed budget, it turns out we can afford it after all. No major home renovations or expensive vacations in the near future (except Disney that we've been planning for some time now), but we can do it! Yay! As far as babysitting goes, I managed to get it all covered...what was I afraid of???

I am so much happier just knowing what is in my future. I get to work at a job I love and be home with the kiddo to take him to story hour at the library, swim lessons, etc.

    I gave 4 weeks notice.

I have 3 weeks left (not that I'm counting)

Just had to share my good news!!

BTDT! Congratulations! I'm sure you'll be SO much happier. It made a world of difference for me a few years ago when I switched jobs.

What a relief! I went through a series of crappy jobs, and when I was finally in one that I liked, the difference is amazing.

Isn't that the greatest feeling EVER? It's like the weight of the world has been lifted.

Enjoy the countdown. Try not to get a huge grin as you leave every day for the next three weeks.

I'm mostly grown up enough to not feel even a twinge of jealousy that you are going to work your dream job. Mostly.

No seriously, a late but hearty congrats.
