I'm in the process of adding a calendar to the self-hosted wordpress site I created for our PTO. I was wondering if anyone has an opinion on what type of calendar works best in an online site. I was thinking I'd go with a public Google calendar because so many people use Google - and I think there are plugins to finagle the sidebar to display upcoming events from a Google feed. Still, there is an integrated calendar widget in Wordpress and several other calendar plugins I could try. I'm wondering if Google is the way to go or if I should spend time checking out other options. Also, does anyone have any examples of websites with nice calendar integration?

    *sigh*

I could kill so much time looking at these programs. I'm wondering if it is worth investigating at all. Google does a good job with most things -- I'd think this application would be good too.

I noticed this thread has been read 105 times but no one has responded yet. While I don't have any good suggestions for you, I will say that Google is probably your best bet. It has been my experience that sometimes widgets get funky, don't work right, etc. You're probably safest using a program that has a lot of manpower behind it in case anything goes wrong. Google is going to rule the world someday.

I had no idea that the thread had been viewed so many times. I did end up with Google. I embedded my calendar and that went very well -- but it doesn't show up well on iPhones. I suppose debugging all this keeps my away from the bon bons and tennis lessons that most dawkters wives enjoy all day.

Thanks for the vote. You confirmed my own inclinations.
