Has anyone heard anything about the NYU - SCPS? It's a program given both online and in person. I'm interested in the coaching and executive development certificate, but I haven't really heard anything about it. I tried to google and came up relatively empty. Perhaps I was too impatient? Wouldn't be the first time.. ahha..

I have, back like 10 years ago, in person. I don't know anything about their coaching/executive development offerings or their online programs. It was standard for NYC book publishers to send their entry-level production editors off to their copywriting and proof reading classes, though, and I took another class or two just for fun back when I had tuition reimbursement as a perk.

Like I said, I don't know about the specific programs you're interested in, but they were legit for certain things in publishing.

Can I high jack for just a moment? I plan to start a online graduate certificate program next year, but not at that school. Has anyone ever done a graduate certificate program? Did it help? Did you get what you needed from it? Was it worth it? Was it any more challenging than other graduate classes you've taken?

MrsSZ- How many classes is this program you are looking at? Do you mind sharing how much the tuition will cost? I'm just trying to see how this other program I'm looking compares. The program I'm looking at is 5 classes for about 5K total. I was just wondering if that sounds about right.

This particular certificate is about 18 credit hours total for a whooping 12K.... A little steep for me, but with half being paid back and the other I'll make up for in about two years.. I'm just trying to figure out if it is worth it to pay the extra money for a degree that says "NYU" on it... The one thing that is beneficial about this certificate though is that you can do 22 more hours to lead into a Master's or an MBA

Good to know! The graduate certificate I'm looking at is not from a super well known school. Small public university in Texas, it should sever my needs well given our goal to move back home and my career goals. The certificate also allows me to transfer those credits into the Master's program should I go that route. I'm crossing my fingers I can get the certificate and start in a entry level position, gain experience then apply for better opportunities while. I've read no less than 100 current job opens in the field and its seems like this *might* work. The trick is doing a really well in my current sales jobs. One step at a time I guess! Thanks for the info. I feel better about pursuing the graduate certificate next year.
