What I have learned during this "sabbatical" is that no amount of money is worth working for assholes at a job you hate unless it's the only way you have to pay the bills.

Update time. About 20 minutes ago I emailed my two week notice. Its done and I feel so relieved. The thing that was really getting to me was the lack of time with my child. She's now in school full days, 5 days a week. I was working Friday night, all day Sat, and Sunday afternoons. It was really getting me down in the dumps. The suckiness of the job didn't help. Now I'll have every Sunday with my family and at least 1 full weekend per month off work. I'll never take for granted a weekend with my family ever again. I feel good about it now that its done.

Yes! I still think about the lost income in the back of my mind, but today I'm so happy knowing I have a last day there. It feels like a weight's been lifted of my shoulders.

Congrats! I recently had to make a similar decision between remaining at home and continuing to search for the "right" job or taking something I knew I didn't want to do for a salary that would hardly cover my bills. While I was scared to decline the offer and risk not finding something else - as soon as I said "no" I felt a million times better.

I hope this new job turns out to be everything you hope it to be!
