  • Anyone want to slow dance?

I'm being courted by a large player in my industry. It's like dating in the Victorian ages. In-person interview was right after Labor Day. Wait a week. Interview with corporate HR. Wait a week. Today just interviewed with a corporate honcho. (not the biggest cheese but big enough)

I'm continuing to submit applications and pull in contacts for those applications because unless or until I have an offer, I'm playing the field. (see dating analogy above)

The company itself is a huge player but they're also going through some significant growing pains - the CEO quit and they're owned by an investment firm thats making big changes.

So, I told them I needed to know if I was a viable candidate (yes) and for them to know that I am still looking. ("HR should be in touch with you very soon...")

    We shall see.

Thanks! I told him that I'd looked him up on LinkedIn and lo and behold, he was looking at my profile while we were on the phone. Hilarious.

They're pretty helpful for keeping connection beyond your specific industry. I have lots of IT people on mine who have left social services and moved on to business IT services but man, they're handy to have around.

I hope that what is best for you is what materializes!!! PITA on having the interviewing drug out like that...but hey at least your still in the running!

After I posted, the head honcho for HR called and basically said, "I am going to ask you a few questions because we're strung this out long enough." She implied that I'll be getting an offer this week. We shall see. The hours are horrible for me- 5am-2pm but it would mean that I'd be home in time to get the dude from school and I think the attending physician in the house can take one for the team and at least get him to the neighbor's house at 7:30. I keep asking him, "so, what- are they going to fire you from the Army? No."

Finally got the verbal offer. Whew. Still have to do fingerprinting, background check and drug screen.

Sadly, that is true. Not even a parking ticket in the last five years. The closest I've been to illegal drugs is my neighbor smoking pot on his porch last summer.
