  • Drumroll please...I finally chose....

I'm going to try to become a surgeon! When I say try, I mean, apply and go for it.

I recently completed another surgery rotation at a specialty clinic in Orlando and LOVED it. I won't be happy doing anything but surgery.....and the squidlets will wait until I'm done.

The hardest part now is convincing UF that they want me as an intern...there are only 4 spots (2 paid and 2 unpaid) and they don't like to "take their own." Why not, damnit!?!? I'm limited to applying to UF because Russ has another year and we've both decided we can NOT be apart for a year.....not even if I went to Orlando...

The heat is on to prove myself worthy in about 6 months or so....I have to smoke the boards in November...and suck up a lot....

Just wanted to give a heads up on where we're at....

Oh and if you all want to ask vet questions or have to get me in anyway, your best bet will be to email me cause I'm going to be busy busting my butt to get this internship!

Oh and since this is a med spouse forum: Russ is loving his rotations! and he kicked but on the boards! (step 1)

That's great that you've decided to go for surgery! Good luck, I hope everything turns out the way you want. And welcome back, BTW, I was wondering what had happened to you!

Well....I applied for an internship position at UF...and while they don't like to take their own, they decided I would be worth it....ok so more like they decided to help me out since Russ had one more year....but I will be an intern next year! I can't tell anyone at school yet, so I thought I'd pop over here and let you all know!
