    I got a letter today from the U that I now qualify for retirement benefits!

    Sweet. It takes 5 years here to vest into the pension plan, so I don't even pay attention to that. But having access to TIAA-CREF as a university-affiliated person and putting a chunk of each paycheck into a Supplemental Retirement Account with them has been invaluable. Love watching that balance grow -- we're pretty sure it's covered by the tax code that lets you withdraw penalty-free for a down payment, so that's our first house sitting in that little nest egg!

      I don't make very miuch money as a part-time employee. I am still going to take full advantage of it and try and put away at least...something.
