How are things? We haven't heard from you in a little while and I'm wondering how you are doing.....

Well, a month later I get a chance to log on and write. It seems that there is NEVER enough time to even look at the board, let alone post! Thanks for asking after me, though - it's nice to be missed. I'm hanging in there, working to get some data for a paper or two and writing more grants but it's getting vedry demoralizing. We got a so-so score on the last NIH grant but haven't heard why yet. With Tom finishing residency and all the changes coming up, my mind isn't in the lab too much. I've decided to quit as of next April, but haven't worked up the gumption to tell my boss because we've really been a team working together to get our little lab on the map. It feels like desertion! But I can't keep up the commute without a definite endpoint. And with an impending 'real' salary we can coast a couple of months without mine. I feel lucky about that. And it feels like the baby months are sliding by without my being able to pay enough attention to any of them! Nieve is almost a year now...

Anyway, that's the rambling update. still in the workforce for now...

Thanks for letting us know. There's something comforting about a light at the end of the tunnel (that isn't an oncoming train!). As for telling your boss, keep reminding yourself that you have to do what is best for your life. Tell yourself that over and over and over. Then go in with that mindset when you tell your boss- becuase it's true.

Good luck! Please keep us posted on how things are going.
