  • Anyone heard of Softchoice Corp.?(Janet if you're out there)

I received a call from them this week about a sales gig selling software business-to-business. They claim to be, "Canada’s #1 software reseller with 30 branches across the US."

I'm kind of hesitant to go back into the tech industry since its down and tech budgets are on-hold for now. The advertising gig is still my #1 choice, but I just wanted to see if anyone here has heard of them.

    Their website address is:

    http://www.softchoice.com

Anyone ever heard of them? If you're out there Janet, I'd like to get your input since you came from the tech industry and also live in Canada.

    Thanks!

    Hi Rachel,

Well, I know of them, but don't know a lot about them. I think they used to be in our office tower (when I was at Symantec). I think they are a reseller and go after corporate accounts. But you alread knew that, right?

There are many Canadian companies that are kicking butt in the tech world. And many companies have offices in both the US and Canada.

Also, from the Web site, it looks like their exectutives come from big name companies (IBM, Xerox, etc.), which makes me think that it's solidly run.

    What are your thoughts?

      Hi Janet!

Thanks for the info. Software sales isn't really on the top of my list right now. I just don't know if I want to get back into the tech field right now. I will see how things go w/this advertising gig. I know I can always go back to tech if I want.

On another note, how did you decide on going into tech writing for your master degree? In about two years, I am going to get a higher degree. Before it was an MBA, but now I am also thinking about getting a master degree in communications. I just love to write (non-fiction) and I know I am a "marketing" type of person. I did PR in college in the entertainment industry, but kind of moved away from it b/c of the low pay starting out. Also, I am an "idea" type of person so I can really see myself in advertising in the future. I'm really interested in your thoughts.

      Thanks,

      Rachel
