Good Luck Claudia! You will be great. I really enjoyed your thesis topic. I remember my thesis defense a couple years ago. I was scared to death! I was writing my presentation late into the night before my meeting. I had a 30 minute presentation of my findings and then about an hour of questions from my committee. Once I got into the presentation, things started to go smoothly and I became more comfortable. The hardest part was waiting out in the hall way once I finished so my committee could talk it over.

My advisor gave me some good advice though. She told me that no one new my thesis better than me and to just show them what I knew. It really helped with the defense.

I hope everything things goes well.

    Thinking about you! Jennifer

Claudia....funny...a friend of mine and I were just discussing the gory details of our thesis defense's long ago....(at least it seems long ago now )

Honestly, I remember being so nervous about the actual defense that I was unable to sleep for almost two days ...and it wasn't nearly as bad as I had feared...

If your advisors have given you any hint about what will be asked, be sure and prepare for those questions....otherwise, skip through your thesis and try and decide what kinds of questions they might ask.....come up with some good answers.....and you'll be fine....

My impression was that the advisors WANT you to do well and they make the defense a positive experience....After all...if you don't look good, then they don't look good!

Relax and enjoy your few minutes of glory in the department...and if all else fails and you're still nervous...imagine them in their underwear (just try not to laugh outloud during your presentation!)

I *finished* !!!!!!!!!!! My computer "back home" wouldn't let me post ? I feel very, very relieved. The defense went really well - my advisor brought some brownies! That was a wonderful sign. All in all, it was very relaxed and positive - I have to make a few edits here and there and turn it in! Thanks for your thoughts!

Now the real job hunt begins. . .
