Do many of you have loans that you are paying on? I am trying to decide whether or not to send off my collegiate funding services consolidation request...This would consolidate my federal loans with a private bank but would still guarantee me the same rights to defer....I just feel nervous about it...Has anyone else consolidated with them or another organization?

I consolidated my years ago. Now they are in forbearance because we can't afford to pay the minimum payments. Yes, that is scary because they are gaining interest as we speak.

You can only consolidate your loans once, so if interest rates are low you may want to take advantage of it. Mine are consolidated through the US Dept of Education.

My loans are also consolidated through DOE. They take the minimum payment directly from our chekcing account every month. It's significantly easier that way! I still have 8 more years but as the interest rates have gone down, so have my payments.

Well, I took a leap of faith and mailed out this consolidation stuff with CFS...lets hope it works out! The payments are supposed to be less than the govt. payments...so.....we'll see! This will be beneficial for at least the first two years until we get on our feet.
