  • What are you studying?

I know Luanne is almost finished (WOOHOO!!) with NP right?

and Lily is looking to start Law

and I think Pitterpat is working on a Masters, but I can't remember what subject

Alison, do you know what you want to study?

    Stella, how about you?

Anyone else going back to school?

    I'm a bit jealous....

Well, I am not in the same company as Luanne and some of the others, BUT....

as of last week, I am an official "non-degree seeking graduate student" in the school of education at my alma mater, and I have my first workshop this Thursday night. It is entitled "Royal African Dances" and I don't know a whole heck of a lot about it, except it is suitable for K-12 teachers in language arts, social studies, reading, art, and music.

I am kind of excited about it, and wish that I had the drive and ambition to actually become degree seeking and get my master's, but I really just.....don't. If I get a graduate degree and then decide to stop teaching for a while (like if this job changes to full-time, which I don't want to do while my kids are this young) I will have a MUCH harder time getting hired as a teacher b/c they will have to pay me more. It would be pretty hard for me to justify tuition costs, too, honestly.

I am anxious to hear what everyone else is up to!

I'm going to apply to study for an MS in Physics or Astronomy -- I'm torn between emphasizing astrophysics and emphasizing physics education. I'm most interested in learning cosmology, just for its own sake, but a masters in that field is pretty impractical. We'll see, first steps first!

I'm studying accounting...by the far the dryest subject ever. :| I think it'll be worth it in the long run because it's a field that always has jobs and that I can go in and out of if I decide to take time off to pop out babies. But boy, this is painful....as I'm studying for my midterm on Thursday and it's 1 a.m.!

I'm applying to Masters programs in English and Interior Design. Where I go and what I do depends on which one decides to let me in.

If I get into Interior Design, I'll be elated and I'll use it to eventually be a freelance designer, including staging homes for realtors, general interior design, and eventually, flipping houses.

If I get into English, I'll pursue that possibly part time while working. My end goal there would be to get a PhD and become a professor.

Both programs are to begin in Fall 07, like Alison. Design needs a portfolio (which I am putting off b/c printing can be expensive) and English needs the GREs.

I'm in semester number 5 (6 total) for my Masters in nursing/Nurse Practitioner. Which is why I am online here now instead of studying

I'm still debating the merits of PhD vs. MPH. PhD in something sociological/human services oriented. MPH would be geared to the sociological stuff. Of course, I could go the MSW route which would allow me to get licensed which could open a lot of doors should I decide to do administration in mental health. (The MR side of the house doesn't really require any licensing.) I don't know! I may wait a while until we are more settled and see if I can just go full time. I hate squeezing education into every other part of my world.

Of course, going a whole new track sounds like fun, too. Like English.

I'm studying for the Regulation section of the CPA exam. I'm actually enjoying it, as I am weak in some new legislation, and it is fun to learn something I should probably already know I am also studying for the LSAT, but am having trouble getting excited over a standardized test.

Good luck to all of ya'll with your studies. And remember to take breaks that involve chocolate, if needed.

I'm getting my masters in education, with a focus on educational research and statistics. I'm also getting trained in Montessori but I don't know how much I agree with the Montessory philosophy... (the preschool arena fascinates me right now as I've got boys that age)

My MPH program is a dual-degree program with the nursing program...I'll end up with a MSN/MPH. Technically, you specialize in public health nursing leadership...opening doors for you to teach at a nursing school (which I think I want to do in the long run). My program also has a nice segue into a DNP program, but I haven't decided if I want to do that...

My program is all online and I spend hours in front of the computer. It's really weird...

Good luck with the Series 7. I studied for it and for Series 63 last year before I realized I didn't like my job all that much and I wanted to do something else.
