The Charter is nice. I don't do well with bucket-style. I need a bit more form.

Ghurkas are nice. I'd totally forgotten about them until we walked by the store. There's a messenger style bag in the sale section, Nellie. That might work. Over my budget though...

I'll get one for my husband as done-with-residency present. He was drooling today too!

In case you still need a cheap alternative, check out Zappos. These are my favorites in the cheap category (under $100).

This one is pretty cute too but more pricey.

Thanks for all the links guys.
I saw the Lodis ones today. They're nice, except a lot of them have these itty bitty straps that I know are going to dig into my shoulder when I'm carrying a heavier load. I noticed that there's really so little out there for women as far as briefcases - in an affordable range. They've got these silly Juicy bags that say "I am a Princess..." COME ON!!! I can't wait until the style with the stupid tassles and bedazzled crap passes. Sorry. I'm just bitter because I can't afford the Ghurka that I want. Maybe I do deserve the princess bag?

I've kept that bag in the back of my mind all of this time. Sadly (or fortunately really) I just went to the site and it's no longer available.

It's better really. Better for my checking account, better for my marriage ...

That's too bad, Jesher... Coach has some bucket bags, if I'm not mistaken. Not quite the same as a Ghurka, but....
