Back when I applied to law school (1998) there were no interviews. Is that still true now? Anyhow, I went to meet with admissions for my top choice law school, and when I did that the admissions guy made sure that I understood that this was just for my own information and would not influence their decision at all. Basically it ended up with me attempting to sell myself but mostly asking questions about the school because it didn't seem like they cared about me trying to "sell myself." I brought something that I thought was the most impressive piece of my application (a portfolio item) and they didn't seem to really show much interest. I ended up rejected from that school anyway, sadly. I also met with admissions for my safety school, and I don't remember much about that.

Question on Law Apps for anyone in the know - interviews?

I never met with anyone prior to law school, but what I have heard is similar to what veggiefriend described. So much of it, though, depends on the school and the personalities of those involved. But can I just say how much I wish an interview were required for admittance. Some of the a*&holes in my class, I’m convinced, would not have been admitted had there been an interview component. Just something to look forward to, all the varied personalities that law attracts. Oh, by the way I was happy to see that you thought the LSAT went well.

I only interviewed at the school I attended for undergrad (and that meeting consisted of the dean telling me to go to the school I ended up attending instead of that one)
That having been said, I'd say come prepared (resume, maybe a writing sample if you have one or something)
I'm sure if you look you can also find someone who goes to law school there who you can ask. I'd be happy to ask around my office/ask my law school fruiends to ask around theirs if it'll help.- Eric: Husband to PGY3 Neuro

When I applied (too long ago to admit...), only a hand-full of schools did interviews. Aside from grades and the LSAT, the make-or-break was the personal statement. The school to which I applied had a "meet the school" day, where prospective students could tour the school. I was not able to attend because of work. I don't think it mattered much though...I got in anyway.
Maybe it was better I didn't go...didn't give myself a chance to say something wrong!

Again, I know this is super late, but if you are entering the law world you should read everything that Kimm Walton has ever written. Her book "Guerilla Tatics for Getting the Legal Job of Your Dreams" is great. I think it would be helpful in getting into lawschool, too. In fact, I made my husband read most of it before his job interviews. I think she has some books that pertain strictly to lawschool. Good Luck!
