I'll cut to the chase here....

The moral of the story: IF YOU HAVE A RIM ON YOUR LICENSE PLATES IN MINNESOTA, THEY ARE A PETTY MISDEMEANOR OFFENSE, CARRYING A $98 FINE.

DH was stopped for speeding a couple weeks ago: 41 in a 30 going downhill. In addition to the speeding citation, the fine officer cited him with an invalid driver's license (Ohio) and an obstruction of license plates tabs. The fine amount for these three citations totalled $350. I made DH go to traffic court and contest it. Literally, I had to drag him there. He plead guilty to the speeding and the other two were suspended for a period of twelve months on the condition that he have no same or similar offenses. This knocked it down to $150.

We had to turn in the metallic rim on his license plates. (His said: Go Boilermakers!) We counted the cars with these metallic rims on our way home. No less than one in three cars here have those stupid things. Our car dealership placed them on the van without even asking us.) Talk about petty B.S. citations!

    Rant over.

    Holy COW!
Going downhill? Over by less 9 mph? Again, DOWNHILL?!
Were you able to get them to lower the Ohio driver's license fine?

We've gotten some petty (yet expensive) fines in Chicago. Like a load/unload zone with ME IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT with my flashers on (yet somehow blind to the guy giving me a $90 ticket).
