DH's was about $3500-3600 per month after taxes, insurance, etc. And living in OKC, that was a pretty decent amount.

$2600 a month - residency net pay is this accurate?

Intern year our take home pay was $3600 per month and we were paid monthly. This year (PGY2), while the annual salary is $5K more a year for this program, I think our monthly take home pay will be similar because insurance is no longer free and we're paid bi weekly. Our living costs here are also significantly higher here than in our last city. I should mention though I think our PGY2 program is one of the higher paying programs out there.Charlene~Married to an attending Ophtho Mudphud and Mom to 2 daughters

Ours was $3200 intern year and I'm thinking between $2900 and $3000 this year (haven't gotten the first paycheck yet so I don't know for sure). He should be able to moonlight starting next year so that should help quite a bit.Wife of a surgical fellow; Mom to a busy toddler girl and 5 furballs (2 cats, 3 dogs)

Apparently residency is community service in NC cause he's been working for 30 days tomorrow and we've seen no paycheck. And his documents say pay is bimonthly. Awesome.Married to a Urology Attending! (that is an understated exclamation point)

None of the other residents at our institution have been paid either. Poky's DH (also an intern) just got word that his first check is in the mail but he's been working a month too. According to the rant thread, it's not unheard of for this to happen at the start of intern year. Something to keep in mind for budgeting since we have moving expenses, etc that we would not be able to cover at this point if I wasn't working. Thank goodness SIL has been watching dd (we pay her a little plus room and board) and we haven't had to pay a nanny for this first month.Married to a Urology Attending! It does appear to be the case that the first paycheck will NOT be auto-deposited, no matter how far in advance you set things up, though, and SNAFUs seem to be the norm with first-month payroll, so definitely be prepared, just in case!Sandy

I thought I was being dumb but I looked it up, here is the definition for "bimonthly". Super helpful, huh?:
bi·month·ly(b-mnthl)adj.1. Happening every two months.
2. Happening twice a month; semimonthly.
adv.1. Once every two months.
2. Twice a month; semimonthly.
