Another good site to check is Yahoo Farechase. They track airlines that don't have contracts with Orbitz/Travelocity/Expedia.

I've been watching flights lately because we have several weddings to go to this coming spring and summer. There was one flight in May I absolutely needed, and I watched it for a week and it went down. I also found for some reason on Tuesdays the prices are cheaper. When it's outrageously priced $100 over what you expect, I doubt it's going to go up anymore. So I would tell you to wait it out a week and check next Tuesday.

We're lucky to be in Chicago (never thought I'd say that). Alaska has a nonstop to Seattle, and we can get most everywhere nonstop. We do the Germany thing too, and have a good range of airlines to choose from (United, American, and even India Air).

I either do orbitz or the airline websites. Do you have an Entertainment book? They've usually got coupons for United in them
