  • 2007 taxes

So, my OCD self started the turbo tax already and I'm sad to report that we paid more in interest on our mortgages than I made. by 5 digits.

    OMG!!!!

Luckily, we'll be due a very sweet return (again)

cripes, though. no wonder the banks are freaking about the subprime mess. Just look what they got from us!

Not OCD at all - I do not think. Especially since there is a sweet return involved. I would have filed Jan 1st.

After decades of turbo taxing, I have called an accountant. With the move this year, the new house, DH supposedly now making the big bucks , my consultant work, etc, there were ALOT of changes for us. I am a little anxious - we have always gotten a return - I hope that we do not get hit with paying $$$$$ loads. I'd be happy with breaking even.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

Our return is so easy- we do have the rental property in DC but turbo tax makes it so painless. My ex and I used an accountant because Bill was in the AF Reserves and a Fire fighter and there were some odd deductions he took for both situations.

I'm waiting for Matt to get his CPA and then he can open the Medical Spouses Tax Accountancy and he'll have more bidnez than one guy should.

          Is the W-2 available?

I don't think the IRS will send out refunds this year until later--- like mid-February? Usually I try to get the taxes done ASAP, but it takes a while to gather all the forms....

Turbo Tax is easy, though.... Especially since they remember my info from previous years!

Nope- no W-2s or statements yet, but I have my end of year pay stub and all of the mortgage information is available online. I also have the 8 billion deductions to enter- like all of the crap we had to buy before he deployed...

I'm motivated. I know we are getting a refund.

                I'd support Matt too!

Me 4 (I think!). Plus, if G. gets the offer they talked about, he'd be mighty handy for me. I could even be his administrative assistant (and get a break on my taxes??).

Ugh. We have to find someone to do our taxes this year; WAY too much complicated stuff for me to figure out, for the first time ever (though once I see it done once, I figure I'll be able to handle it at least until we move again).

medpedspouse, how did you decide who to go with? Anybody familiar with Cleveland have a suggestion of who to go to?

Only if you are required to figure the AMT- AND expect a refund will the refund be delayed. Thanks, Congressfolk.

Indeed, most likely the only good thing from any overseas deployment.

I'd be happy with breaking even
                      Unfortunately(fortunately), that is the goal.

                      Medical Spouses Tax Accountancy
Sounds good...though it may have to wait another year or so.

This is the first year we'll be using an accountant as well. My mom refuses to touch us now. So far we only got 1 W-2 out of 3 and also waiting for some 1199's. Five months on the new job DH made as much we we both did in 2006. I have a bad feeling we'll be paying loads this year.

I'm shaking in my boots because I cashed out some stock options this year.... and they withold taxes but I've no idea how to deal with it on our taxes. I'm just praying TurboTax won't let me down.

I'm also kicking myself that I didn't get receipts for any of the donations I made this year.... because I have a feeling it won't be pretty.

I started my own business this year and am very nervous about doing my taxes myself. This will be the first time that I hire someone to do them for me.

How much does it normally cost?
