  • Malpractuce insurance

How much does it really cost? Why can't I find a list of how much it costs for different states and different specialties?

I can see myself wanting to live in Florida, but we have heard that Florida is not a good place to practice medicine largely because of malpractice costs. Is this still the case?

Does anyone have any new solid information on this?

Maybe because it varies so much it is hard to find?

I'm hesitant to say because I don't know if I remember an accurate figure, even ballpark. Like I said, it varies and DH's is low compared to other specialties. His practice pays his coverage but if he left, he would have to pay the tail coverage. I *think* that was around $20k but can't remember if that was after one or two years of practicing (we would need to be to pay that amount if he quit working there). And I don't know how the tail compares to what the practice pays annually.

    Sorry...not much help.

Bummer. I know it varies a lot, but my husband uses it as an argument of hearsay against living in Florida, and I wish I could find some real info on it.
