    So after reading this post, I mentioned to DH about needing disability insurance. He thought I was nuts. He has 1.5 times his salary as a part of his work benefits and a small policy he bought when in residency which he thinks is sufficient. Am I wrong is thinking having a disability insurance policy of our own, not tied to his employer, would be better in the long run? He doesn't think long term at all.

      I would imagine that it would be better, especially if he's considering leaving his employer.
