  • Unsecured loans - physician loans - NOT mortgages

I'm sorry if this has been covered before and I missed it. I'm not the money person in our house and all the terms confuse me.

Next year, our income (fellowship salary) will not cover all of our expenses. Russ mentioned taking out a loan to offset the costs...instead of running up a credit card. He wanted me to ask you all about physician loans....not mortgages...just an unsecured loan. And more specifically the SunTrust ones. I read the thread about their mortgages and JennP's negative experiences, and others ok ones.

Here is the link to the SunTrust site:
    https://www.suntrust.com/portal/serv...cian_loans/557

We are trying to see if we qualify for USAA (dad was Navy a long time ago) but I don't know what they offer either (Russ might). I really know nothing about money/finances. So if I have jumbled this stuff I apologize. I'm just going to pass this info along to Russ.

    Thanks guys!

The one thing I will say in a positive direction, is that they must realize how badly they screwed up our payments/payment record, b/c they're not reporting the loan or payment history at all to any of the credit bureaus. It's kind of crazy, but I'd much rather they do it that way then me have to fight over every screwy report (and I didn't request it -- I just pulled our reports to see what there was, and SunTrust isn't on any of them).

We are using Suntrust during fellowship. They are completely backwards and cannot for the life of themselves figure out how to do a money transfer for payment BUT they are so helpful and nice. Send them checks via snail mail and everything is fine, just don't tax them to do anything past the 1980's.

We had to take out a SunTrust loan to get out of our Ohio house (we basically had to bring all of the realtor's fees to closing and didn't have that cash on hand). They were really easy for us to work with, and we've been very please with their service.
