I've gotten gifts, hockey tickets and our Christmas cards all through Groupon. You have to be very selective in what you buy - only purchase items if you were already planning on buying something similar already. Otherwise you end up spending a TON of money on stuff you wouldn't normally purchase just because it's 50% off!

Another note is always check the companies site first. There was a groupon today for an iPad2 cover and it was cheaper on their actual site then with the Groupon...hmm.

I "think" groupon is technically required to allow you to return any deal, which makes them slightly different from many of the other deal sites...lifebooker, livingsocial, etc. A co-worker's son works there and she shared that last week.

How do returns work on Groupon? I had one vendor go out of business after I purchased 2 groupons.

I've returned a couple . I got Groupon credit for them. Really easy.

How did you do it? I e-mailed them about it and did not get a response.

Hmmm that's odd. I just filled out the customer service email form and always got a prompt response in a day or two

We had a vendor go out of business and groupon actually emailed us to say they went out of business and we would be getting a refund. Maybe they are just slow to respond to emails?

I think I called them when I had one go out of business and they easily refunded my money. I don't remember waiting on the line too much so it wasn't too painful.

Using one today for a prenatal massage. VERY excited!

I also just noticed that if your groupon expires you can still use the value you paid for it. I am guessing I cannot return it after it expires?

ALSO anyone have a good source that searches all the websites like groupon/google/living social/giltcity? I was using deal leak but noticed it doesn't include all the big ones.

I have an iPhone app called TapBuy Deals that seems to have most sites. I tend to forget about it, though, and just check things individually.

ETA - Just remembered... I think that used to be called Deal Leak, so never mind!

Just got e-mails from Groupon regarding requested refunds. They gave me a full refund for the vendor that went out of business before I used my groupons. They gave me a credit for the vendor that couldn't ship to my state. Both groupons were expired.

Do they do anything for groupons that you just won't use? I have some that I bought and then couldn't use while pregnant. They've now expired and I don't want to use them.

I got credit for one hot yoga groupon I didn't want to use while pregnant, but it had not expired yet.
