I try to coupon as much as I can - but try to be careful to only use coupons on things we actually eat and use! lol I have been following the Krazy Coupon Lady on her blog and Facebook. It's good because every Sunday she will go through the ads at some stores and show you what she plans on buying that week and how to get the deals. She was on TLC's Extreme Couponing. I know Target has some of their own online. My Target is actually getting a full grocery section in June so I am super excited! I'm hoping to never go to Walmart again!!! lol

Never for food because I order my food through the local Farmer's Market delivery service or I shop at the commissary. I buy what's on sale at the commissary but they don't have circulars or anything.

I'm the online shopping addict and will use ebates but have also discovered that some sites jack up the prices through ebates (FTD being one of them) so it definitely pays to compare.

I have started ordering all of my cleaning and paper products through soap.com, my pet food and kitty litter through petflow.com and of course my greenling.com for my groceries. I'm an agoraphobic in the making. I hate shopping with such a passion that I just ordered new running shoes through DSW because it was easier. My new couches (delivered today!) are from the Exchange website.

My mom is the Queen of food pricing between coupons, circulars, etc.

Impressive! I'm the opposite of MrsK. I have a bunch of loose, usually-expired coupons floating around my wallet....

We order from amazon fresh, and I walk to the grocery store. I figure we pay more (especially with amazon groceries), but I don't drive EVER.

If I see a coupon for a dollar or more off something I actually buy, I'll use it. Anything more than that is too much work.

I also think it depends on how many people you have to buy for- for us, it's less expensive for me to go to the meat counter and buy 6 slices of bacon rather than one whole package that can take three weeks to eat. I buy meat by the half pound! I would imagine that in a larger family with much larger purchases that coupons and following the circulars can really pay off. I also don't buy bulk items at costco, either- we can't eat it. I bought a bag of frozen berries before my husband left for DC that I just finished. We buy milk by the half gallon, too!

I think if you have the time and passion for it- it can be great. Cristina posts on her Facebook page some of her amazing purchases- she gets things down to the penny sometimes!

Krazy Coupon Lady is good too. To be really good at couponing you have to be very OCD -- which, I think, is why a lot of extreme couponers become hoarders, another OCD behaviour. I think it's well established that I'm one of the more OCD types but fortunately my sickness has more to do with cleaning and purging stuff than it does with collecting. (My mom is a collector. Seriously, how many head vases, cut crystal vases, or bird figurines does one woman need? There is not a single surface of her home that is not cluttered with her treasures.) Some of the extreme couponers buy multiple coupons from services like coupon clippers, get 10-20 copies of the Sunday paper, fish coupons out of their neighbors' recycling bins, and buy a lot of stuff that they really do not need. They build huge stockpiles and often purchase things they do not need because they cannot resist a deal. I clip coupons only for products that I already buy (unless the coupon is for a free -- not BOGO - product, in which case, I'll try it). Then I hold the coupons until the product goes on sale. Most products go on sale about every 6 weeks. Then I stock up. This is a pretty good customizable stock up list that will give you an idea of what is a "good" stock up price: http://moneysavingmom.com/wp-content...custom_set.pdf. Of course, if I need something and it costs more than the stock up price -- baby needs diapers NOW and the best price I can get is $.23/diaper -- I go ahead and get the best price I can.

I don't coupon - I fall into the camp of buying something b/c it's a good deal and not b/c it's something we routinely use. I use ebates, search coupons, etc. for large online purchases (got 20% off plus 12% back when I bought our Kelty backpack). Otherwise, I do try to find just a general good deal (ie - Costco isn't ALWAYS a good deal, but for organic milk it's great).

Kris - you may want to see if there is a local person who coupons/blogs about it. We've got one here, and I do follow her facebook feed. If something comes up that I'd be purchasing otherwise, I do use it.

My petflow.com order just was delivered by the really cute FedEx guy (bonus points- how many cute grocery checkers are there? None.) and I didn't have to pay for shipping AND I didn't have to lug 3 cases of canned food, two 50 pound bags of dry food or one 40 pound box of kitty litter further than from my front porch.

I do coupon, but more for stores than groceries. The only coupons I usually get for groceries are the ones that come with the weekly ads since we don't buy the Sunday paper. I have an accordian folder I keep them in, but I'm not usually organized enough to keep track of expiration dates, etc.

I have to admit that I'm addicted to that TLC show extreme couponing. DH thinks I'm nuts, but I find those people fascinating! The amount of stuff they get for such nominal amounts of money is incredible. I truly admire those peeps.

I have been known to buy a ridiculous amount of something if I find it on clearance. For example today while grocery shopping, I noticed my favorite cereal was on clearance for more than half off what I usually buy it for on sale, so I bought 14 boxes. I also shop at Wal-Mart and always take the competitors ad's in with me to price match. That saves me a ton of money without having to keep track of coupons. I never make an online purchase without first searching for a coupon, success rate is pretty good.

I usually don't bother either, unless I get something during checkout and it's for an actual product I usually buy. I find that whenever I try to use supermarket coupons I get stuff I don't need/want just because I have a coupon. I also prefer using them at clothing/department stores because then savings is usually greater than at the supermarket. DH has been out of training for almost 4 years and only recently I got comfortable buying food that's not on sale. I still can't do it for the other stuff.

                                Julie,

I had that experience yesterday (buying because I had a coupon). I compared my receipt from our grocery store with coupons to my most recent aldi purchase. I priced similar items. Aldi was cheaper. Our aldi has nice veggies but I'm not a fan of the meat.

                                Hmmmm
