My girls have two each. I bought 3.25 of them. E had a give card that covered 3/4th the cost of one. I tried to buy Addy for myself. But Maggie took the doll and said she would babysit to pay for it. LOL

I had an American Girl when I was little. Samantha. All I can say is, thank goodness we do not have girls right now!

LOL. I had this big talk with dh about his spending....and us saving more money. Then I bought this AND dropped by Crabtree and Evelyn too. Ooops. He was all "oooh, let's save money. Honey, you leave your bank card at home. I'll take care of dipping into the overdraft again!" LOL

too cute! Shamefully, we own four. :embarrassed: Four, I say! She saved her money for one, she got one for two consecutive birthdays, and her final one was a splurge when we went to the cafe. Yes, this is my lame justification of our excess.

There are two in our house (one for each of the girls) and they couldn't give a rip less about them. They were gifts from a family friend (and AG collector) who was completely aghast that our tomboy girls hadn't even heard of them.

They're decent quality though, right? I've heard the target knockoffs don't hold up very well. My girls check out the catalog but have yet to express an interest in actually getting one.

My daughter doesn't seem to know who they are and has never expressed interest. She's as girly as they come and love babies but has never asked for AG.

We don't have any, but that is going to change come Christmas. My oldest has been asking for an AG dall since March when our first catalog arrives. I have no idea who signed us up to get one - and if I find out I'm going to clock them! Natalie circled the items that she wants - almost every item in the catalog is circled. 8 )

Santa had better be saving his money this year! I'm thinking that the 6 and 3 year olds with get real AG dolls and the 1 year old - that can never be left out! - will get the target knock off.

We got a catalog last fall and since I knew it was out of the question financially, I tossed it out before the girls could see it. I figured why torture them? They vaguely know who what they are but haven't really expressed much interest.

For the past several years we've dropped a small fortune at Build a Bear Workshop though. At this point I'll happily continue though if it'll keep my 7 & 10 year olds little girls longer!

I would cautiously urge you to not get one for a 3 year old. I think target knock off is appropriate. IMO 3 year olds won't understand the story that goes along with the doll and that's what made it do special for my dd1. Dd2 doesn't really play with her ag dolls and they were gifts. Dd1 had 3 dolls, plus the entire kaya collection she loved those so much. She played with them constantly-- like in toy story how the boy plays with his toys. I've boxed up her stuff so she can have them later when she's a mom. Lol I'm sure she will roll her eyes but her dolls were just too special to her.
