Weird CC Question

    Weird CC Question

    So I received a credit card solicitation in the mail today from Discover. I don't have a Discover card, never have, neither has DH. What is throwing me is that my first name is spelled wrong, with an S instead of a C. I've never received a credit card soliciation misspelled, don't they get that information from your credit report? This is throwing up all kinds of red flags for me. Guess its time to get our annual free credit reports.

    If its not one thing, its something else - or everything at once. GRRR!!

    We receive a a shit-ton of CC offers. They occasionally include typos in our names.

      Same here. Until we signed up for the service to remove us from all cc solicitations.

              SuzySunshine, have you checked your report? It's possible you have an alternate spelling in there. I know I have 4 different names: married name, maiden name, middle name with married name, and middle name with maiden name. I also had my step-dad listed as my spouse. Really strange.

                It has worked for me...except for CapitalOne. They have been the only offenders, but it was only 1 or 2 offers. I was receiving one almost every day before! I know it is working because I didn't sign DH up yet and he still gets them almost every day.

                    So it looks like I requested our 2011 credit reports in February, probably when we were looking for a rental so I don't think I'll be able to do it again for free.

                    Thanks for the opt out address though.

                        When iwas a kid we signed up for all sorts of things (usually the cassette music clubs-- pre CDs so I'm dating myself here) and we were big sonics fans (Seattle supersonics). Anyway my parents still get solicitations sent to their house for Shawn kemp, detlef shrempf, and Gary Payton. Lol.
