Okay.. long story short, we live in a condo that is owned by one of DH's best friends. It was built mid-80s and has original fridge and windows. Both are horrible. We were talking about moving (and the friend is totally fine with it : we covered his mortgage while he was deployed so win win for him), but the fact of the matter is we are getting a sweet deal, even with the $300+ electric bill with the shit windows. My question is what do windows/patio doors tend to run? Two sliding doors standard, 4 double sets of windows and a small window? How do I even begin to figure the cost on something like that? Trying to figure out if we rent the place for the next 2 years does it make sense for him to replace windows and Fridge?

I recently had mine done in my rental townhome. 9 total windows (one single, 4 double). $3200 installed. That doesn't include a sliding door.

No, it doesn't make financial sense to replace windows or fridges that are working. But it also doesn't make sense to lose good renters (and that's why I replaced my windows-the renters were whining about them.)

You could just get a quote from someone. I had a local company come out a couple years ago and the guy was honest and said it wouldn't be worth it if we were planning to sell soon and that they were still in ok shape despite the fact that they frost over in the winter. Fast forward to when we did sell the inspector found a problem with the patio door. I had the same company come out and they said that it would be 5-8k to replace with a sliding glass door. We ended up not replacing it because it still had life left even if it was starting to break.
