    I love this thread.

I get massages twice a month on a resident salary. Rationalize it by a shoulder injury (and it does reduce pain 80-100% going that often)

We too go out to bars and restaurants. And though I'm eternally envious of those on here (ahem, MrsMD!) who travel more than us, I do feel like I'm leaving town more than anyone I come into contact with on a regular basis.

I can't think of anything beyond that. Husband dresses well but I keep him on a tight leash. I still dress like a hipster with emotional problems and get mistaken for being a student at whatever respective institution I'm teaching at on any given day. But we can save that for another thread.

Vacations. We work our buts off and spend a ton of $$ on vacay. Other things I can't live without, barre membership, waxing and salon cost. Also I have a fair unhealthy clothing and shoe love.

I do like this thread. Everyone needs indulgences.

Mine is travel, though mostly of the road trip variety. I spend a lot of money on gas but next to nothing on hotels because I can almost always find someone's couch to crash on. A 6 hour drive is not much of a deterrent to me if I see something cool I want to go to, although I've noticed that's changing the older I get and the more uncomfortable long drives get on my body. I hope when we have an attending salary the travel expenses will be more of the plane and possibly RV variety.

Music is likely one too. I prefer to buy albums on vinyl if they're sold that way, which a surprisingly large number of new albums are nowadays. It's trendy again. I suppose that's one thing I can thank hipsters for

Electronics is probably another. I'm not really sure what the average is for that though, I'm betting we're still pretty average there but I know when we're on an attending salary we'll be well above the average, lol. I would never leave best buy empty handed if I could. We both like toys and gadgets.

Probably food, and eating out, although living by my parents has its advantage, because they take us out a lot now. We probably spend too much on clothes and toys for E too.

Travel, food/wine, travel to get different types of food/wine. I could care less about designer anything but will spend that amount or more on food or wine. To me a meal is an experience...not just sustenance. We plan our travel based on culinary options. Speaking of, Peru is a gastronomic paradise.

I need to start getting massages. My body cannot rebound the way it used to.

Our country club membership, family gym/water park membership, family skiing, I'm start golf (first lesson today!) and a friend has almost talked me into joint a tennis group at a tennis club with indoor courts.

I'm rewarding myself with a trip to the Athleta that just opened here when I hit a weight goal. I splurge in facial products and hair care.

                  I want to restart pedicures.

@WPW & @ladybug. I swear the biggest reason I have been able to stay physically active so long is massages. Seriously. My idea of a good kinky time is having someone drag their knuckles down my quads or elbow me in the butt. Even a hardcore foot massage can help stave off plantar fasciitis. I honestly can't recommend it enough.

@phoebe. I enjoy athleta too but they are overdue a Haters Guide review of athleta a la the the haters guide to Williams Sonoma. Seriously ridiculously priced clothing. I was in there the other day and picked up a $300 running jacket! Does not commute. Whi the heck is buying that? My wedding dress cost a little over 300. It's a piece of fabric you put on your body to sweat in. Love it but only on major clearance. Om is the same way.

I have gone the Athleta route vs luLulemon because athleta at least has pretty good sales (that is when I stock up). I never saw lululemon mark down their stuff enough for me. I do think the Athleta quality is better. I have pieces I've had for years. I also have bought a few items from title9 but only on sale.

I must admit that I do not spend money on designer clothes/bags that are the "it" thing but will spend money of designers whom I think the quality is worth the price. One of my favs for workout - just running around wear is Ibex. Their stuff is pricey but lasts...also keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter.

Um... Electricity? Our summer electric bill is over $400 for at least one month out of the year. We have their green/renewable plan that is more expensive, and we keep our thermostat at 72 year round.

We also spend a lot on date nights (dinner, movie, and babysitter). That's about every 1-1.5 weeks.

I used to be able to say I saved on clothes and shoes, because I almost never shop. Now I'm subscribing to Stitch Fix, and I really need some shoes and boots to go with my outfits, plus those are more expensive than Ross and TJMaxx, where I typically shop.

Right now my only major indulgence is my weekly yoga class. It is pricey (to me) at $10/wk, but it is a 90 minute class and I really enjoy it. I wish I had the time and money to do 2-3 classes a week.

Once I get a few things squared away financially (car expenses, replacing the dishwasher, and attorney fees this summer really added up), I want to join the Y. We will get a decent discount and I should be able to take some of their classes, even with working full time.

The other indulgence is tae kwan do for Sophie - I am hoping to start it again for her, but, again, I need everything to shake out with the new job before I can make any commitments.

ETA: my other indulgence is handmade soaps and lotions - so much better for my skin than what I can buy in a store. But even that I do on the cheap because I make them myself... *sigh* I am not very good at the indulging thing...

Mine is my freaking house. Even beyond all the crap that we had to re-do from our craptastic builder. I've been working with a designer from Montreal to decorate our great room. It's going to be fabulous, but oooh.

We also eat out fairly frequently. Trying to get away from that, but oh, the convenience.

Oh man. I should send you some of my lush stuff. People seem to give me that stuff all the time - I didn't even know it was pricey? Anyway, I have really sensitive skin - I have it like stuffed in the back of the linen closet of the guest bath because the perfumes bother me when it's out.

craft supplies. I just attempted to marshall and purge. I filled a 25 gallon bucket with items to save and threw away one sandwich baggie of stuff. I still have more to sort too.
