What is depressing about it? It says that most doctors made more this year (we are still in a recession and salaries in other fields still stagnate) and that the lowest paying specialty still averages over two hundred thousand dollars per year. Sounds mostly positive. That said, the wage gap is a bit sad.

Many of our friends (FM, Peds) do not make over 200k a year. It's heartbreaking.
Hell, WE had to fight to make 200k a year...

Yeah, same with psych. Guess it's depressing if you are in certain specialties.

We just need some pandemic and we'll be golden. Kidding-kidding.

We never went into it for the money so That does not bother me. What bothers me is the amount of time spent on paperwork, battling insurance and all those other things that are now part of "practicing medicine" - Seriously doubt any of our spouses ever said I can't wait to get into 200k+ in debt so that I can fight with someone on the phone (that does not have a medical degree) in order for my patient to get the meds they need.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

It is enraging to me when insurance adjuster will deny clients medical treatment. Like, who the hell are you to decide what is medically necessary? I'm sure the power point your manager sent you on back surgery is really enlightening...

that's exactly what I was thinking. And "jesus christ why is my husband spending two extra years in training?" at least he's not interested in academics. I'M READY TO BE DEBT FREE!!!
