My husband's salary for years 1 to 2 is 65% lower than the one listed for his subspecialty!

The internists here also earn less than what is posted. They also peak at 145k at 3 years. The surgeons that we know also don't earn that 500k salary......hmmmm...I wonder where they got their numbers?

Problem: Radiology is taken as one large group rather than split into its varying subspecialties which can bring in vastly different "average" or starting salaries.

          Still, it's very interesting....

Here is one that may be a bit more up to date....at least it says 2004.

The numbers for Gen Anesthesia seem about accurate. Matt's 1-2 years will fall around the number the survey has, and his 3rd year will be a bit higher. We have friends going to Alaska who will be making $400K his first year out as a generalist. Must be nice.... then again Matt reminds me- it's Alaska and far from our family.

My DH is of course still a resident but the numbers seem accurate to what he has heard graduates in his program make.

That looks mostly accurate but a little lower than what we've been hearing. I'm sure there is some with-in region variation that is harder to capture.

If those numbers are way off, don't tell me just yet... I like to live in my own little ideal world of thinking that there will come a day when we don't have to scrape change from the couch and then have to decide if we want to buy milk or gas with it... .
