  • Dramatically Different

Holy moly--I spent $25 on a 4oz. bottle of Clinique Dramatically Different moisturizer. It'll last me for about 1.5 months, but because of the little sample bottles that I had lying around, I haven't needed to actually buy a bottle in quite some time. What a shocker! I love the stuff. BUT, does anyone know of a CHEAPER yet comparable moisturizer that is not heavy and is good for combination (oily and dry skin) that won't be such a burden on my wallet? Or should I not be a penny pincher on this one?

I'm with you Alison...I have tried other stuff, but it is never quite the same as Clinique. It hurts every time I go to the counter, but…I have replaced my Clinique cleanser with Neutrogena...that tends to be close, but I have not found a moisturizer that is that great balance of moisturizing with out being too heavy. I vote for trying to time your purchase so that you get free stuff, spring and fall.

I'm ashamed to admit that I'm really enjoying the Mary Kay "Timewise" moisturizer. I was railroaded into going to a party (my neighbor 3 houses down has a pink cadillac) and bought only what I figured I'd need anyway. So I got the face cleanser (also Timewise) and moisturizer, and love them both. I told dh I didn't want to sound like a commercial, but that stuff is fabulous!

      Far cheaper than Clinique.

        Thanks for your suggestions!

FYI--thanks for the Neutrogena suggestion. However, when I picked up my bottle of moisturizer last time, I noticed that Clinique's got their cleanser in a pump-form now too. As much as I like the soap bar, I always felt that the useless little sliver of soap that I was left with in the end was such a waste. I think I will dish out the $$ next time on a soap-pump (now that I've gotten your "permission" to keep going with the moisturizer)!

Dh says that by going to Walgreens and trying to go the cheap(ER) route by trying different cleansers and moisturizers out, I'll end up spending just as much money and end up chucking things out. Does this mean I have HIS permission to continue with Clinique?!?

Here, here! I'm a Mary Kay girl, too. Now I must get you to try the microdermabrasion kit. My friend that sells it luckily isn't too pushy, but she got me to try it and I LOVE IT!!!

Alison, I've been using this L'Oreal moisturizer for years and love it. And it's only $10 for 4 oz. It's a pump, so you won't waste it by pouring too much into your hand.

Thanks Vishenka. I'll try it out, but just a quick question: is it heavy? It's got an SPF 15 and I don't want any extra bulk. Is it pretty light? Do you wear it overnight too?!

I use the Mary Kay TimeWise moisturizer, too, and have been very happy with it. I deviate from the "program", though, in that I use cleansers and eye cream from Oil of Olay and a non-alcohol astringent/freshener by Neutrogena......I think all three of those brands have good things to offer.

Alison, it's very light and absorbs very quickly. I wear it both during the day and at night. I think the bottle even says "day or night" or something to that effect.
