If anyone is looking for a financial planner, I've got a great one (who can work w/you anywhere in the country). He's helped both SueC and I with our post-residency financial situations, and is working to get us headed in the right direction. I get nothing for the referral, except knowing I've done my good deed for the day. If you're interested, PM me.
Oh - and if you're in the same boat I was a year ago and say "I need to have money before I have a financial planner", his response to that is "You don't wait to see a doctor until you're cured, do you?"
His wife is an OB, so he knows where we're coming from financially, etc. He hasn't cost us a dime (sure, he makes commissions from the bank or insurance companies, but I've been completely comfortable with him).
I just met with him today, and it occurred to me that others here might be able to use him.
