  • Just converted my Traditional IRA into my Roth IRA account..

It will have some tax implications this year b/c they treat the money being converted as income, but being only 30 and DW only 27, it should have plenty of time to grow tax free!

I hope the tax bill isn't too bad.

Anyone else done this? I hope it was the right decision.

I did this a few years ago with state employee pension plan funds I didn't want to keep track of. I was able to spread the income over 4 years so the taxes weren't bad. I'm not sure if that is still an option??

I agree that it is probably worth it.

I did this a few years ago as well, the taxes weren't too bad. I read somewhere recently that if you expect to be in a higher tax bracket when you retire (which I expect most of us will be) it's a good idea to convert.
