bare minerals

i got the starter kit the other day as a gift. anyone have it? i searched it and found a few mentions about it....but nothing specific. anyone care to share their experiences????

I have Bare Escentuals (I think that is what it is called.....) I a starter kit of it from my sister for Christmas and just started using it in the past couple months......I really like the stuff and have actually been to Sephora a time or two this past summer to replenish my supply!

The starter kit came in a box with a spray called Mineral Veil, two different shades of foundation (mine had "light" and "fairly light") and two other pots of stuff, as well as a catalog. Is that what you have?

I don't have the Bare Escentuals brand but something similar. I really like it. I decided to forgo the expensive applicator brush (does Bare Es. do that?) and put a powder refill in one of those travel size loose powder containers and use with a regular powder brush. It works great.

it is a little kit with three small containers and a brush. i guess im just confused.... like...uh, do i use all three, or one shade at a time? the "soft focus warmth" seems WAY too dark for my pale self. any suggestions from you makeup buffs?


p.s shouldnt we have a fashion/make-up section...seems a bit weird having this in the financial section

Did yours come with a dvd? I know it seems odd to watch a dvd to put on makeup, but my sis MADE me (and my mom & other sis) watch it so we would know what to do, and that is how I know.

I can't remember the name of the different components, but I can *try* to tell you how I do it......

Use the smallest brush in the foundation shade (you should have two pots of color that are foundations......NOT the warmth) that you think most closely matches your skin and apply that color where ever you need extra coverage.....dark circles, uneven places, zits, etc. Then use the larger brush (not the poofy one, the other one) in the same color, all over your face. Next, use the poofy brush in the stuff labeled "mineral veil", as sort of a finishing touch. I have not experimented with the warmth stuff at all.

A little goes a long way! And I went and got the concealer stuff (multi-tasking bisque) which works much better on my dark circles, etc. than the foundation color.

thanks, sally. the kit only has one big fluffy brush. there is no instructional dvd. i think the best way to use it, is to just play with it until i find something that works.

I absolutely LOVE Bear Escentuals. My starter kit came with two brushes, but the big fluffy brush works great. I usually do the foundation, then warmth, then mineral veil. Sally is right, a little really goes a long way. They also make an great mascara called Big Tease, it does wonders for my lashes. My skin has been so much better since I started using their foundations.

The infomercials are on all the time, if you catch one its like watching the instructional video.

I also use Bare Escentuals and LOVE it. They actually have stores (besides Sephora) in, I know, Atlanta and Dallas. That's where I got my makeup from. Personally, I don't use the kabuki brush (the great big fluffy one), but only use the medium coverage. The kabuki brush puts it on too heavy for me. And ditto, my skin looks fantastic now...

I LOVE Bare Escentuals, too! Sylvia, I was afraid to use the Warmth at first because I am very fair skinned, but once I put it on it didn't look too dark. It will give you a sun-kissed look. Just be sure to use a teeny, tiny bit.

To apply the foundation, shake a little bit of the minerals into the container lid and swirl the brush in it. Then, apply the minerals to your face in a circular motion. You can apply a second time if you would like more coverage.
