Re: Natasha Richardson...how awful
Very scary. I've been contemplating going skiing for the first time and now I have another reason to avoid it. I hope her prognosis is good.Charlene~Married to an attending Ophtho Mudphud and Mom to 2 daughters

Re: Natasha Richardson...how awful
It says that she has two sons...does anyone know how old they are?
Soooo sad.
BTW, DH saw FOUR traumatic brain injuries one weekend this past February from sledding accidents during a particularly snowy time. This stuff freaks me out.

Re: Natasha Richardson...how awful
Something is not right here - if it was a "normal" skiing fall, nobody would have accompanied her back to the hotel as a "precaution," nor would they have taken her to the hospital for a headache. I think it must have been more than a slight fall, or else maybe she blacked out. Subdural hematoma is the catchword in our home.
horrible though.Enabler of DW and 5 kids
Let's go Mets!

Re: Natasha Richardson...how awful
Man, when I made the mistake of telling DH about this story last night, he kind of flipped out and got all animated and loud. He started hollering about whatever kind of injury it was, and said that the kind of injury was super-critical and time-sensitive. Something about seeing these and having to kidnap patients from the ER and take them into surgery and then having to go to war with insulted ER attendings who resented you kidnapping their patients. Apparently, some screaming match erupted between him and an ER doc, I take it.
Ummm...ok...issues there, dear? Sorry I mentioned it...

Re: Natasha Richardson...how awful
You know I've never worn a helmet skiing but then again we haven't been in over 4 years. I suppose next time we go I will and I don't think I'd have to beg to get DH to wear one. A very good med school friend of his had a very scary accident last year that almost left him paralyzed.
I hope its not as bad as some of the reports say, their kids are so young.Wife to NSG out of training, mom to 2, 10 & 8, and a beagle with wings.

Re: Natasha Richardson...how awful
DH also said that it must have been a hematoma that they missed. Being the closest trauma center to Poconos, they've been getting ski accident related cases all winter. Needless to say DH is very much against me skiing.
It's still hard to believe she's dead. Just saw her as a guest judge on last season of Top Chef, she looked amazing.
