We're in L.A. -- collapsed at home, pronounced at 3:15.
Hopefully, he can now have some peace.

Some people are icons and they are just meant to leave us early. MJ's iconic status was right up there with Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, Lady Di, John Lennon . . . packed a lot into a short life.

A sad day for his family and a bad week for stars. RIP Ed, Farrah and MJ.

              This is all so sad.

ITA w/ DCJenn - everything happens in threes. Once they broke in during the local news and said "cardiac arrest" and "not breathing", I knew that things were not good for MJ.

I texted my cousin and we reminisced about his MJ obsession when we were 9-10 years old. I've heard that all the radio stations are playing his music. I also talked to my Dad tonight - we agreed that the sales of his music will probably increase significantly and he's gonna keep me posted on that (he works for Best Buy corporate).

Wonder what is going to happen to his children, music rights, personal property, etc...those poor children have lost their father.

I've also wondered what is going to happen to his children. Larry King said he expects for all kinds of people to come out of no where with horrible MJ stories and for the tabloids to be terrible for the next few weeks. Hopefully, he will get some peace.

You're not going to believe this. . . now there are rumors that Jeff Goldblum died in New Zealand today.

What a loss of a such a talented entertainer. He was an absolutely amazing dancer--professional backup dancers couldn't keep up with him. I grew up with his music. What a sad day indeed.

Poor Jeff Goldblum....it's just a hoax, of course, but I don't know why people love to pick on him so much. If they're gonna say that somebody fell off a cliff, why can't it be Robin Williams or Robert Downey Jr?

MJ very talented. Very deviant off of the stage. Appreciate his talent.

My thoughts - speed or diet pills on the way to dropping weight for a comeback. Just a guess.

Sadness for the kids whose ridiculous parents dropped them off at Wonderland ranch. Hope those rents rot in hell.

I think I'm in the minority, but all I could think was, "Well, at least all of his future potential victims are spared the abuse." He was creepy. It broke my heart that all of those freaky parents allowed their young children to sleep over at his house.

I think the same...however we all know that is he was a perp w/a major back story of abuse and exploitation w/in his own family...he was a freak of entertainment w/what appears to be (according to most sources) a very stunted emotional maturation...a man child if you will.
                              He was a musical genius.
His music could be the soundtrack to many of our lives....err um maybe a few of us; I was born in '70.

I actually heard the opposite from an interview with a friend in Detroit. He was trying to gain weight quickly so that he could have stamina for his shows. He was a complete anorexic and only weighed 120 lbs. I wonder if his anorexia stemmed from him wanting to have the body of an adolescent boy.

They are also reporting that he had a shot of Demerol right before he stopped breathing.
