I don't think he's well enough mentally to have planned this all out.

I agree. Plus, I might have bought the "crafted act" angle until I read an article (Washington Post, I think) that said these antics have been going on for 20 years. He was engaged to Kelly Preston in 1990 and "accidentally" shot her in the arm. I'd known about his penchant for porn stars and drugs, but he's been abusing women for a long, long time. I never understood why his show was such a big hit, or he was the highest paid actor on TV either. I think the only movie of his I've seen is Major League (I am a Clevelander, after all), so I can't really speak to his actual acting ability. But no, I don't think it's an act.

I think he's baseline crazy to begin with. I don't think he can do this single-handedly. I think he knows what to do and when to do it in order to keep himself in the limelight. Who isn't interested in his next move?

Also, I don't think you have to be smart to be a good actor... Nor to be able to cook something up like this.

Me. But then, I never watched 2.5 men, either.

I notice that according to IMDB, Tom Cruise has continued to be in about a movie a year his whole career...but the past few aren't ones I've even heard of. Crazy publicity isn't always good, maybe? Of course, I pay so little attention to movies that only ones with a pretty amazing amount of buzz even come to my attention, so "I haven't heard of it" doesn't necessarily mean much, either.

I think the thing that's working for him is that people who would say they aren't even interested are talking about him. Or---interested enough to click on his name on a website.

Yea, and putting him in the same category as Mel Gibson and Lindsey Lohan.

On an up-note, at least his nuts-o behavior suggests that his position on the 9-11 attacks is equally bonkers. He's one of those "Bush conspired to cause 9-11 and we bombed ourselves" crazies.

IMO, the "no publicity is bad publicity" stuff ends when you're dumb enough to insult studios and execs. They have to be willing to work with you, and they have to be able to insure you. That's why Lohan has had trouble getting gigs. Gibson isn't out there getting jobs, either. He kept working b/c the studios were willing to overlook his history of drug abuse and abusing women b/c the "no publicity is bad" thing was working for them, but now he's pretty much bit the hand that feeds him.

He's insane, narcissistic, and a druggie ... probably manic ... I heard an interview the other day from a PR person who said the best possible outcome would be "Charlie coming to his senses, going into rehab, and coming out in July saying he was embarrassed by his actions." Hollywood would likely forgive all (which is sick).

Well you called it Jenn, he was officially fired today from 2 1/2 men. Can't say I didn't see it coming or that I care because I've never seen the show either. I'm curious to see if he'll have any success suing for breach of contract. I doubt it.

I am kinda thinking it is somewhat of an act.... He is riding this "tiger blood" and "winning" to the end. Do crazy nut-balls really keep saying there own catch phrase over and over again?

He's exhibiting loads of behavior that would cause me to reconsider mental status in a loved one. That's what makes me think he's not dealing with a full deck right now. That, and he's far too shitty of a thespian for this to be an act. He's not that good.

Point for Alison, because if this doesn't indicate it may have all been an act, then...
